Ok, so we’ve all pretended to be our idols, right? Singing into a hairbrush in the bathroom, not a care in the world, imagining ourselves in the music video of our favorite song. But few fans have the dedication of Jesse Roth, a NYC comedian who “tried her best” to do an entire shot-for-shot remake of Lorde’s “Green Light” starring herself.
There’s something incredibly fitting about a Lorde fan showing this kind of devotion. Lorde’s lyrics have always spoken to the part of us that secretly pines after the celebrity lifestyle, but knows it’s bullshit. Seeing this low-budget (but impressive!) passion project alongside Lorde’s masterfully produced music video is a reminder of how following your bliss is just as fun no matter what the scope of your project!
Roth originally dropped the video last summer, but it’s been seeing a resurgence in popularity now that Lorde’s tour is coming to NYC. Will Roth get to meet Lorde while she’s in town? We can only hope (and retweet)!
